Are No-Till Herbicide-Free Systems Possible? A Simulation Study

چکیده
Conservation agriculture (CA) allows farmers to reduce costs and enhance soil health, but tends increase weed infestation associated crop yield loss, and/or herbicide use. We investigated how much tillage reduces which systems species are the most affected by suppression. collected farming practices on 395 arable cropping mainly from France, simulated them over 30 years with 10 weather repetitions, using F lor S ys . This process-based model simulates daily multi-species floras canopies pedoclimate years. Three series were simulated, (1) recorded systems, (2) eliminating without any other changes, (3) herbicides changes. Each was run twice, once a regional weed-flora pool simulate dynamics their impact production biodiversity, weeds predict potential yield. Among treatment frequency index (HTFI) averaged rotation increased when decreased. No no-till system herbicide-free. The untilled crops lowest HTFI (0.16) unusual crops, i.e., relay grass-crops or multi-annual crops. Simulations of showed no correlation between tillage-frequency, biomass weed-caused loss. When deleted change, loss almost doubled. identified traits (e.g., spring annuals) after suppression in robust terms (with cover summer etc.), (recorded obtained deleting tillage) limited frequent efficient herbicides), (4) management techniques reduction tillage, herbicides, (long diverse rotations, etc.). tested achieved all three objectives simultaneously. simulations indicated that two CA pillars (diverse cropping) essential manage while reducing (or eliminating) both More must be determine whether sustainable herbicide-free possible.

Optimizing Strip-Till and No-Till Systems for Corn
Recent developments in biofuel demand and the rapid adoption of modern transgenic hybrids are changing production systems towards more corn after corn, more intensive tillage, higher plant populations, and ever higher crop residue levels at harvest. Meeting society’s needs for food, feed, and fuel from grain corn, and in the future from corn stover, requires continued refinement of tillage syst...

conservation tillage, a fast growing practice in iran, is considered as a means to achieve sustainability in agricultural systems. this study was carried out to determine the effect of tillage systems (no-tillage, minimum tillage and conventional tillage ) on yield and yield components of three irrigated wheat varieties. the field experiment was conducted at the experimental station of the univ...
متن کاملUsing Herbicide and No-Till Planting to Establish Garrison Creeping Foxtail in Wet Meadows
Garrison creeping foxtail can increase the forage yield of wet meadows. However, tillage can be problematic on heavy-textured soils and thick sod mats often associated with wet meadows. This study examined the potential of establishing Garrison with the use of herbicides and no-till planting. Garrison was no-till drilled into a wet meadow using herbicide control of existing vegetation in the en...
